Different Uses of Recycled Postcards and Kitchen Foil
Old postcards are usually not thrown because the thick stock makes these prints durable. Although they may not serve a purpose anymore, finding different ways to reuse postcard advertising materials along with aluminum foil can stretch the purpose of these prints.
With postcard’s thick stock, the cardboard-like feature can be very well used for different crafts, décor items, and a lot more.
• Costume masks: There are times when masks are needed for one-time events and having to buy these items is not quite necessary. Simply draw a pattern of a mask on the old postcard and cut through the lines. You can paint over the postcard if you have a specific color you wish to match with your costume. Then, with your aluminum foil, you can wrap the cardboard shape to make stripes and show off the painted color or simply cover the whole mask for a metallic look. For your handle, simply attach a barbecue stick at the back side. For more glamorous events, you can cover the cut shape up with feathers or beads to hide the rough edges of the mask.
• Corkboard picture frames: Usually teens enjoy decorating corkboards by putting memorable items and pictures. To blend in with the pink, purple, and orange colors, adding silver frames for the pictures or shapes can make your corkboard display more interesting. Since postcards are just a bit larger than regular-sized photographs, these cards can serve well as an outer lining just like silver picture frames. Just remember to slice off four diagonal edges to insert your photos.
There are a lot of other ways you can find to make old postcards useful; your creativity really just depends on what needs you have at home or at work, and applying the features of a postcard to your surroundings. Other ways can be for science experiments or you can choose a postcard design print and collect them for a whole new display.
